Get your mammogram and a manicure - free

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA; March 19, 2014

On Saturday, March 22, Mercy Philadelphia hospital will offer women who walk in for a screening mammogram the chance to get a free manicure, too.

The screenings will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. No appointment is required, however, patients will need a signed prescription from their doctor, as well as an insurance card and photo ID.

"We want to give hard-working and busy women a convenient opportunity to do two important things for themselves: get their annual mammogram and get pampered", says Sister Suzanne Gallagher, vice president of mission integration.

The hospital is partnering with the Mercy Vocational High School Cosmetology Program to offer the complimentary manicures.

Cosmetology students in 11th and 12th grades will provide the manicures. It will count towards cosmetology hours the students have to fulfill to gain their certification upon graduation.

Instructors at Mercy Vocational High School say it will give students practice, and show them the importance of getting a mammogram.
