Suspect sought in South Philadelphia home burglary

Police are searching for a burglar who tried to steal packages from the foyer of a home in South Philadelphia.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for a burglar who attempted to steal packages from the foyer of a home in South Philadelphia last month.

It happened on January 22 around 2 p.m.

The suspect was caught on surveillance casing a home on the 600 block of South Front Street.

After waiting several minutes, he breaks in through the foyer and tries to steal a package, but was scared away after being confronted by a resident in the home.

Police describe the suspect as a dark complected male of unknown race. He was wearing a gray coat, scarf, tan pants, white knit hat and dark shoes.
