The Murder of Jeffrey Parks Jr.

October 26, 2007 Jeffrey Parks Sr. can barely talk about his son.

"It just don't make sense and we want justice."

On Thursday night, August 16th, Jeffrey Parks Jr. was in Southwest Philadelphia visiting family. Around 11:30 p.m. he went to a tattoo parlor in the 19-hundred block of South Salford Street. While waiting his turn, his sister and police said, 18-year-old Robert Sample came in and asked for a tattoo.

"He came in there and the tattoo man told him he couldn't do it," said Paulette Davis, Jeffrey's sister.

Paulette said her brother offered Sample his turn.

"He wasn't trying to fight him or nothing for a tattoo. He told him to go ahead and he got mad."

Sample allegedly left and returned with a gun. Police said he shot Jeffrey multiple times.

"First he shot him in each arm and then he shot him in his chest and in his stomach," Paulette said.

Police said Sample fled on foot. Witnesses said Jeffrey's last words were "call my mom and dad".

"He died senselessly and we just want the murderer off the streets," his father tearfully said.

Sample allegedly has an updated Myspace page that includes several pictures of guns.

To help find Jeffrey's killer his family has raised a $3700 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
