The 32-year-old pregnant woman who suffered injuries in a hammer attack has been released from the hospital. Latanya Richards suffered a wound to the back of the head. She told Action News that she started experiencing contractions after she was hit with the hammer.

Sunday morning, around 2:30, a fight broke out near a McDonald's in the 3000 block of Grays Ferry Avenue.

When police arrived, they found a large group of people involved in the fight. Richards told police she'd been beaten by three women who kicked her repeatedly and struck her in the back of the head with a hammer.

Police did find a hammer at the scene.

Police arrested 26-year-old Latasha Allen of the 600 block of May Place, 28-year-old Kia Hayes of the 1200 block of Bucknell Street, and 30-year-old Shannon Wise of the 2600 block of Earp Street. The three suspects have been charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Family members tell Action News that Richards and her unborn child are expected to be okay.
