A driver dragged a police officer four blocks, trying to flee during a traffic stop. According to investigators, Officer Steve Balatgek approached a white car on Front Street because of loud music.

He leaned into the car to ask for license and registration, and that's when police said the driver hit the gas.

The officer was dragged about four blocks before falling from the car at Elm Street.

Balatgek was taken to Reading Hospital with bruises and sore muscles. The hospital expected to release the officer late Thursday night.

Police took a suspect into custody shortly after the accident. They also seized that person's vehicle, a white Honda.
