How long does it take for morning fog to lift?

Dateline article| David Murphy|

Usually, morning fog clears about one to three hours after sunrise. Occasionally, it hangs-on until around noon, if the air stays cool and damp enough. Morning fog rarely survives into the afternoon because the sun's radiation raises the temperature of the ground, which in turn heats the air, causing the fog to evaporate.
