Hi-tech binoculars for GI's in the works

LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) - June 26, 2008

The Pentagon is funding research on brainwave-aided binoculars.

Electrodes inside a soldier's helmet will record brainwaves to help analyze potential threats in high-res images captured by the device.

Georgia Tech engineering prof Paul Hasler says the system could scan a much wider area than unaided vision.

The Pentagon is providing 11 million dollars in research funding for the high-tech binocs.
