Corzine to sign bill that keeps casinos open

Gov. Jon S Corzine Friday plans to sign a bill that would ensure Atlantic City's 11 casinos will remain open during any future state government shutdown. A shutdown in 2006 closed the casinos for 3 days and lost millions of dollars in gambling revenue.

The key to the law would allow casinos to self-regulate in the absence of state inspectors. If they're caught doing anything wrong, the governor can immediately close them and increase penalties for breaking state rules.
