Levittown, New York, may be the quintessential suburb, but it's certainly not snake country.

At least not until this week.

According to Nassau County police, officers responded to a call about a big snake in a back yard.

Officers found a five-foot-long boa constrictor.

The officers managed to snare the nonpoisonous snake and took it to a reptile store in a nearby town.

Experts figure the agitated snake is someone's escaped pet that had slithered away.
