A Delaware state police trooper is facing 27 felony charges for allegedly submitting false paperwork involving fictitious traffic stops. State police said Corporal Mark Wilson was arrested Wednesday after being indicted by a Sussex County grand jury earlier this week.

Police superintendent Colonel Thomas MacLeish said the indictment stems from a state police investigation that began in late June following a routine review of traffic summonses issued by Wilson.

Authorities allege that the 28-year-old Wilson, a seven-year veteran of the force, falsified official police documents related to seven separate incidents dating to June of last year.

MacLeish said Wilson, who is free on $6,750 secured bond, has been suspended without pay and faces dismissal.
