Sixty-one-year-old John Manning pleaded guilty in May. Federal prosecutors say they learned during his pre-sentence investigation that Manning sexually abused three children during his 18 years on the city police force. Prosecutors say Manning threatened to have a victim's father arrested if she told of the molestation.
Manning did not dispute the information during his sentencing hearing.
At the time of his arrest last fall, Manning was manager of the city's health and safety program. He was immediately suspended and resigned several months later.
