Free fun on the Delaware River

Many of us see the Delaware River every day -- but Saturday will be a day to take advantage of this natural resource and have some fun, all for free.

Coast Day is sponsored by the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Inc. That's an organization whose goal it is to promote and protect the Delaware River and its tributaries.

To bring people to the River, the organization is holding a free Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008. Most of the activities will take place at the RiverLink Ferry Terminal at Penn's Landing.

Activities will include make-and-take arts and crafts, free trips onto the river on Ride The Ducks vehicles, oyster-tasting and more.

There will also be free shuttle buses to and from the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center and the American Philosophical Society Museum's Water Walk Weekend. Accu-weather says the weather's going to be fabulous -- so get out and enjoy the River -- for free!
