Go teen racer go

DANBURY, Conn. (AP) - September 29, 2008

Very fast.

But she does it legally.

Drag racing is in her blood.

Her father has been part of the race scene for decades.

Caroline started in junior races when she was just nine, in mini-cars that can do 80.

Now, she's ready to step up to a full-size dragster, with an alcohol-fueled 525-horsepower Chevy engine.

It's capable of covering a quarter-mile in less than 10 seconds -- that's about 135 miles per hour.

The Danbury, Connecticut high school senior and honor student tells the News-Times she can't wait to make her first run in the dragster her father built for her.
