NASA says the Hubble Space Telescope has malfunctioned in orbit, and that may mean a delay in the space shuttle mission to service it.

The Hubble's command and data-handling system failed over the weekend, NASA says. The primary channel for sending science data from the telescope failed. Flight controllers may try to activate a backup channel.

Space shuttle Atlantis is set to blast off with an astronaut repair team on October 14th. But officials said the flight could end up being delayed a couple months. Managers are debating what to do.
