The Punkin Chunkin World Championship trophy is back in Delaware.

Twenty-one-year-old Jake Burton of Lewes won the title after his team used an air cannon to blast a pumpkin 4,483.51 feet, a new distance record. Burton has been competing for 11 years.

It was the 23rd year for the annual pumpkin tossing contest, which began in Lewes and was held for years at a field in Millsboro before moving two years ago to Bridgeville.

Punkin Chunkin Association President Frank Shade says the slow economy didn't seem to keep many competitors or fans away.
