According to police, the pursuit began early Thursday after Patel allegedly drove through the sobriety checkpoint on Augustine Cut-off. Police say Patel drove through a residential neighborhood in Wilmington and struck several parked cars, the returned to Augustine Cut-off and slammed into a tree near Alapocas Drive. His two passengers were treated for minor injuries.
