Eagles fans take it to the house

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - December 12, 2008 They are teaming up with a big homebuilder, to try and help someone win a brand new home.

Three Eagles fans will get the chance to put a football through a hole on a miniature Pulte Home on Monday night.

Easy enough, right?

"They're 20 yards away, using a regulation sized NFL football, and it's pretty elementary, you get 20 yards away, you grab the football, and put it through the hole," Justin Samra of the Eagles Corporate Sales said.

The contestant with the pinpoint aim will win $300,000 to be used towards the purchase of any new Pulte home across the tri-state area.

The homebuilder calls it "take it to the house."

"Every time Westbrook breaks away, you hear Merrill Reese scream he's taking it to the house and it was just a perfect way to marry the two together," Eric Ford of Pulte Homes said.

Three contestants, three chances, one football, and one ten diameter hole. If no one manages to get it through, no house. If more than one manages, it goes to a playoff which would happen at the Eagles-Cowboys game on December 28 at the Linc.

To demonstrate its degree of difficulty, all three of us gave it a shot:

My throws were less accurate than the others, and right-to-left winds made them look worse.

I was just happy to hit something on my third try.

"Nerves. Throwing in front of 71,000 fans on game night has to come into play at some point," Samra said.

And that Eagles crowd can get ornery.

Good luck.
