Who needs snow plows

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - December 24, 2008

Some airports are using jet engines as blow dryers.

Paine Field in Western Washington state rented one the other day to get the airport open.

Lakeside Industries provides the mega-dryers for a 1,000 bucks an hour, plus gas.

The jet dryer uses an old military fighter engine modified to run on regular auto gas.

Airport operations director Bruce Goetz says they burned about 1,000 gallons.

But he tells The Herald newspaper, "Boy, it did the job."
