Fatal car accident in Delaware

The Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a single car crash that involved a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Troopers responded to the crash on DuPont Highway, US 13, near Memorial Drive after it was reported at 6:36 p.m. a vehicle struck a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation reports a 2003 Land Rover was traveling northbound on US 13 when a female pedestrian was in the roadway. The Land Rover struck the female and as a result the pedestrian died.

The roadway is currently closed as investigators examine the crash scene.

The operator of the Land Rover was not injured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor on behalf of the operator of the Land Rover.

When additional details are known, including the names of the persons involved, they will be released.
