Unisys drops HQ in downtown Philly

Unisys Corp. has called off plans to move its corporate headquarters to downtown Philadelphia from suburban Blue Bell.

Unisys chairman and CEO Ed Coleman on Tuesday said that the current economic downturn is to blame.

The computer services company had lost a battle with the city zoning board last year over a request to put the Unisys logo in lights on the side of a downtown skyscraper.

But Unisys says that its decision to stay put is "purely economic."
