Authorities in Brazoria County say they are confident they finally have their man. They believe Jean kidnapped /*Susana DeJesus*/ back on February 2. They say he is also the man who was captured on surveillance video using her card at an ATM location and driving her vehicle at a fast food restaurant that night.
Jean, 21, reportedly told investigators he kidnapped DeJesus from the strip mall where she worked and then took her to the location on Knight Road where her body was found in a trailer Tuesday. According to Houston police, the medical examiner positively identified DeJesus's body on Wednesday.
Jean will now face aggravated kidnapping charges in Brazoria County and will likely be charged with DeJesus' murder in Houston, since the body was found there. It is unclear when or where DeJesus was killed, or even how.
Jean led detectives to the body after being arrested and charged for an attempted carjacking in Pearland. He is also going to be charged in an unrelated home invasion in Pearland.
Deputies say the motive for the kidnapping and murder was purely financial. This was a random crime. They say Jean wanted DeJesus' car and money.
"As far as motive, right now, as it stands, it looks like it's going to be greed -- just straight up greed," Captain Chris Kincheloe with the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department said. "I think he was going after the Cadillac. I think this is a straight up carjacking."
According to Houston police, the medical examiner positively identified DeJesus's body on Wednesday.
Detectives also say there is possibly one other person involved in this crime. There is a $27,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of that suspect.
