WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - April 11, 2009 The Pittsburgh-based banking giant is asking patrons to remove
hats, caps, sunglasses and hoods while inside the financial
institution. Signs posted on entrances at the bank's 1,100 branches
in recent months preface the request by saying "The safety of our
employees and customers is our foremost concern."
PNC spokesman Fred Solomon said officials believe the policy is
"a sensible security measure that assists us in getting to know
our customers." He says it also helps police identify suspects.
Solomon said there has been "general public support" for the
policy.
