Phil Collins lays off drums for a while

Phil Collins is taking a break from drumming. He tells a German newspaper (Hamburger Abendblatt) he had surgery in April to repair a dislocated vertebrae in his neck. As a result, he can't feel his fingers and he can't pick up drum sticks. He says the only way he could drum is if he were to glue sticks to his hands.

He still plans to do music eventually, though. He's planning to record a new CD featuring remakes of Motown songs.
