John Sullivan was hit around 5 p.m. Monday as he rode across Route 273 at the entrance to the Christiana Town Center.
Police say Sullivan, who wasn't wearing a helmet, was killed after he rode directly into the path of the Dodge Caravan driven by a 79-year-old Ruth Fisher of Newark. She wasn't hurt.
Troopers say in the collision, Sullivan was thrown forward and hit a car stopped in the left turn lane.
No charges have been filed. The crash is still under investigation.
