Teen charged in crash involving cop

CLAYMONT, Del. - December 18, 2009

Bryce Oneschuk, 16, of the 100 block of Commonwealth Avenue in Claymont, has been charged with four counts of felony reckless endangering, DUI, possession of alcohol, and various traffic offenses.

The crash happened after, police say, he fled from officers in his grandmother's car and rammed a police cruiser.

It happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. Thursday when an officer saw a suspicious vehicle, and learned the car had been "flagged" as one occupied by a missing person.

The officer tried to stop the car, but police say Oneschuk, the driver, drove off, striking the police cruiser.

Oneschuk hit two other cars, police say, before crashing into a telephone pole on Grubb Road near the community of Kings Ridge. He was arrested after a short foot chase.

He has been arraigned and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center after failing to post a $9,000 secured bail.
