Raymond Sheared, 61, was struck while crossing Delsea Drive (Route 47) in Franklin Township around 8:22 p.m.
Police say Sheared had purchased a six pack of beer and was crossing the street when he was hit.
The driver of the tractor trailer was unaware he had hit someone, police said, and continued for about a block until a mechanical problem forced him to stop.
Once he was out of the truck he noticed damaged to the front end and called 911.
Police say the truck driver is not facing any charges.
Sheared was living in Philadephia, but formerly lived in Franklin Township.
