Police: Pa. woman dumps boiling water on mom

EPHRATA, Pa. - July 22, 2010

At 2:27 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to Akron Road in Ephrata, Lancaster County for the report of an assault.

The responding officer was approached by a woman who said that she awoke to the sound of a woman, identified as Jennie Loump, screaming. The woman said she saw Loump's daughter, Alisa Loump, leaving the bedroom, at which time she also noticed that Jennie had been severely burned.

Jennie said that Alisa poured a pot of boiling water on her while she was sleeping.

Jennie was air lifted to Lehigh Valley Medical Center with 2nd degree burns to 70-percent of her body. She is currently in an induced coma and in critical condition.

Police recovered an 8-quart steel pot from the hallway outside of the bedroom. An arrest warrant was then issued for 23-year-old Alisa Ashley Loump.

Officers caught up with Alisa at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday on North Street in Ephrata Borough. Upon taking her into custody, police observed her using a blue tooth earpiece. They removed the earpiece from her and put it in her bag.

Officers then noticed that the cell phone was still in use and picked it up. Police identified themselves and asked who was on the phone, to which a man replied "Antoine".

Antoine then allegedly asked police, "Are you arresting [Alisa] for what she did to her mom?"

Police said, "What are you talking about?"

Antoine answered, "For pouring water on her mom. You know that was 50/50? Her mom didn't want us together so we came up with the idea to kill her mom using boiling water."

The man was later identified as 18-year-old Antoine Walker of Edinburgh, Indiana. Walker again contacted police to make sure that they knew it was his idea too and Alisa confirmed that she was talking to Walker on the cell phone while she was dumping the boiling water on her mom. Walker was allegedly coaxing Alisa into pouring the boiling water onto Jennie Loump, convincing her that she would die from shock.

Walker has been taken into custody in Indiana and will be extradited to Pennsylvania.

Both defendants are charged with attempted homicide and conspiracy. Alisa Loump is also charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. It wasn't clear if either is represented by a lawyer.
