Fifty-three-year-old Thomas Hurd of Bensalem, Pa., also was ordered to pay more than $322,000 in restitution.
Hurd was charged in June 2008 following an investigation by the New Jersey insurance fraud prosecutor's office. He pleaded guilty in January.
In announcing the sentencing Wednesday, prosecutors said Hurd accepted insurance premium money from small businesses and never remitted it to the insurance company.
