Elderly woman attacked inside her home

SOMERS POINT, N.J. - August 3, 2010 Authorities are searching for a suspect who burglarized a residence in Somers Point early Tuesday morning and sexually assaulted, beat and robbed an elderly woman.

Police responded to a home on Cedar Avenue at 5:30 a.m. for a 911 call that a woman was attacked in her home. The victim was taken to the hospital.

Investigators say the suspect, described as a thin, black male, wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans, entered the home through an unlocked window sometime after 1:30 a.m. The victim awoke when she heard an item fall in her living room. She entered the living room to investigate and encountered her attacker.

The suspect stole money from the victim and other items in the household.
