Chicago Mayor Daley hears from Oprah Winfrey

CHICAGO (AP) - Septempber 9, 2010

Winfrey was among the notables who have called Daley since his announcement Tuesday that he would give up the job he's had since 1989.

Like Daley, Oprah is giving up her current job, too. She's ending her Chicago-based daytime talk show this season after 25 years.

Daley said Wednesday he also heard from President Barack Obama, former Vice President Al Gore and White House advisers David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel.

Emanuel is Obama's chief of staff and has said he would like to run for Chicago mayor one day. He's reportedly weighing his options.
