MetroPCS fires up cutting-edge wireless network

NEW YORK (AP) - September 21, 2010

MetroPCS, which has 7.6 million subscribers, turned on Long Term Evolution, or LTE, service Tuesday in Las Vegas. It's ahead of Verizon Wireless, which has 92 million subscribers and is the major carrier furthest along in its LTE plans.

MetroPCS, which is based in Richardson, Texas, is selling a Samsung touch screen phone for $299 for the service.
