Northeast Phila. crash leaves 1 dead, 1 critical

Police investigate a fatal crash in Northeast Philadelphia on October 23, 2010.

One person is dead and another has lost part of his leg in a crash in Northeast Philadelphia.

The accident happened at 10:40 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a car was traveling eastbound on Norcom Road and struck a tree at Red Lion Road, in front of Penn Jersey Paper Company.

The car then burst into flame.

The driver died at the scene.

A man in his 20's was ejected from the car and severed a leg just below the knee.

He is listed in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
