Heart surgery doesn't stop man from voting

MILWAUKEE (AP) - November 3, 2010

The Milwaukee man was rushed into the operating room yesterday with chest pains.

Janis Strucel says her father called and wanted to make sure he was allowed to vote.

A friend was able to pick up Kopplin's ballot and take it to the hospital.

Kopplin is a life-long Republican.

State officials note Wisconsin law allows hospitalized voters to request absentee ballots on Election Day.
