I like to make some of my Thanksgiving dishes ahead of time, the carrots and potatoes are two of the best because they freeze well. Here's my tip: Peel and cut your carrots first and then move onto the potatoes.
As you peel and chop the potatoes, the starch will remove all of the orange carrot residue from your hands!
Now, after you've boiled the potatoes, don't dump the water down the drain, it can save you time polishing the silver.
All you have to do is drop the silver into the potato water and let it sit for an hour while you're taking care of other things. When the hour has passed, remove the silver and wash it. Sparkly clean and no tarnish!
Over salt the soup? Cut a raw potato into large chunks and drop them into the soup pot for ten minutes or so. They will absorb the excess salt from the pot and you can easily fish out the chunks with a spotted spoon. Easy ways to make those potatoes work before you enjoy them!
I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
