The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs agrees to pay the family of Harold Chapman Jr. $250,000 to resolve the suit. Settlement papers were released Friday.
According to the suit, the 75-year-old Chapman wore only pajamas when he wandered past a security desk and out of the Delaware Valley Veterans Home on December 31, 2007.
Chapman was a retired Philadelphia police officer who fought in Korea.
The family's attorney did not immediately return a phone message Monday. The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs could not immediately be reached.
