You probably toss those little silica gel packets. Well don't. I have some uses for them.

You know these little packets that come with new shoes and handbags? They eliminate moisture that can cause mildew and damage and act as a preservative for these items. They can also help you all over the house!

Put a silica gel packet in the boxes where you store your photos to keep them safe and dry

Tarnish and corrosion on silver and jewelry are caused by moisture; slip a silica gel packet in your silver chest or jewelry box to keep those items tarnish free!

Keep silica gel packets in your toolbox to protect against rust and corrosion.

Heading to the beach or our on the boat? Pack a plastic zip top bag with a silica gel pack inside to stash cell phones, cameras and other electronic equipment.

When you open the bag to answer the phone or take a picture some moisture can get inside those items. The silica gel will quickly wipe away the moisture and protect electronics.

If your silica gel packets don't seem to be working, put them on a cookie sheet in a one hundred degree electric oven for an hour to recharge!

When you're not using the packets, keep them in an airtight container to protect them from surrounding moisture and keep them away from children and pets. I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
