Suspect arrested in hit-and-run of boy, 7

The man sought in connection with the hit-and-run of a young boy in Pleasantville, New Jersey has been taken into custody.

Omar Butcher, 18, was arrested on Monday.

Police say Butcher was behind the wheel of a minivan that hit the boy, who was riding a bicycle, on Franklin Boulevard in Pleasantville the night of April 30th.

After the crash, police say Butcher and two other men fled the scene. The other two men were arrested shortly after the crash.

The boy who was struck survived the crash but sustained serious injuries.

Butcher is charged with second-degree assault by auto while in a school zone, third-degree leaving the scene of accident involving seriously bodily injury, third-degree endangering an injured victim and fourth-degree causing serious bodily injury while driving while suspended.

Butcher was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $125,000 cash or bond bail.
