Industrial mishap kills security guard

The search for a stolen front end loader ended in tragedy in Southwest Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police say the incident started when police officers received a Lojack signal from the rear of a warehouse in the 74 hundred block of Glenmore Avenue.

Officers arrived and discovered a stolen Bobcat front end loader hidden behind large dumpsters.

Tragedy struck when police brought in a crane to move the dumpsters away from the front end loader. During the move, one of the dumpsters fell from the crane and crushed the security guard, killing him instantly.

The incident remains under investigation by Detectives from Southwest and accident investigators from the Accident Investigation Division.
