NJ MVCs reopen on Mondays; computers crash

Problems are plaguing New Jersey's 39 Motor Vehicle Commission offices as a statewide computer malfunction has left them unable to do business.

The glitch is especially frustrating because they came on the first day MVC offices were open on Mondays in a year.

The agency reversed a decision last summer to close on Mondays to save money. The decision resulted in longer lines and waiting times.

MVC spokesman Mike Horan says the computer problems started shortly before 9 a.m.

The MVC reported that the issues were solved by 1:00 p.m.

The agencies will be open between 8 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. weekdays and until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The offices operate on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
