Toledo jewelry store robbed at gunpoint

TOLEDO, Ohio Several people who work at this shopping center talked to the owner after the robbery that left him terrified. They say the suspects thought they took the DVD box containing any surveillance video before they fled the jewelry store, but it was the wrong box. Police are now releasing that video to the public, asking for their help to find the armed gunmen.

Business owners at the Executive Shoppes shopping center on Secor say they're no strangers to break-ins, but what happened Friday left them furious.

It starts outside as two suspects get buzzed into "Azure Jewelers". Police say the two men went inside and pulled out handguns, handcuffing the owner and another worker, as well as using duct tape. Next, one of the suspects on his cell phone lets two more men in through the back door.

The video shows the suspects grabbing jewelry from the counters and leading the owner into a back room to get into a safe. The suspects then fled on foot.

Workers at shops next door called 9-1-1 when they saw the owner of Azure limp and hunched over outside. Vickie Hunt of Charles Paul Salon says, "Ali came around, came out, handcuffed, limping. Handcuffed actually to his bookkeeper."

"He was very shaken up. He said it was very frightening. He said they were armed and they were professionals," says Gayle LeMaster, office manager of Anyana-Kai.

They say the robbers cleaned out the inventory at the jewelry store, but the owner is ok.

"He said, 'Gayle, it's my wife's birthday. I had just sent her flowers.' And he said, 'I was there thinking I was going to be murdered on my wife's birthday.' It was such a sad thing. And when his wife was over, she just said, 'I'm just so thankful that nothing happened to him,'" says LeMaster.

Police encourage anyone with information about this case call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
