Plane crashes in Egg Harbor Township

EGG HARBOR TWP., N.J. - August 2, 2011

Around 2:56 p.m., a Bellanca 8GCBC plane went down in a grass field along Steelmanville Road.

The pilot, 20-year-old Jason Flood, was attempting to pick up a banner in the field, but missed.

Flood attempted to try again when he either lost control or had a mechanical problem, which caused the plane to crash.

Flood was trapped by wreckage and it took fire crews approximately 40 minutes to free him.

He suffered serious injuries in the crash and was air lifted to the trauma center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus.

Jason Flood remains in critical condition as of Tuesday night.

The plane had extensive damage, but no word on what caused it to go down.

The crash is still under investigation.
