The incident took place along the 200 block of Otis Avenue.
Officials say Tuckerton police received a 911 call from a woman at 8:26 p.m.
Police responded and encountered an armed man that accosted officers.
Authorities do not say what the man was armed with.
At least one officer discharged a gun striking the man.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
