Pa. man gets 28½ to 57 years in 2007 slaying

READING, Pa. (AP) - September 28, 2011

Twenty-nine-year-old Francois Henderson of Reading was convicted earlier this month of third-degree murder in the slaying of 32-year-old Chauncey Pringle, who was found dead in August 2007 with $68,000 in his pocket.

The Reading Eagle (http://bit.ly/rcfNVt ) says Judge Thomas Parisi agreed Wednesday to prosecutors' request that that he serve the murder sentence concurrent with a term for assault on a city police officer.

Henderson testified that he fired once because Pringle fired first. Defense attorney Richard Reynolds sought a 20- to 40-year sentence.

Prosecutors say Henderson won't be testifying in a co-defendant's trial on first-degree murder and related charges.
