N.J. gets $10 million for road storm damage

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - November 24, 2011

The state's two U.S. senators, /*Frank Lautenberg*/ and /*Robert Menendez*/, announced the funding this week.

The grants from the Federal Highway Administration include $7.4 million for damage caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee and $2.8 million for the flooding in August.

The back-to-back storms dropped several inches of rain on the state over a short period of time, causing record flooding across most of New Jersey. Residents in many communities, especially in northern Jersey, were forced to evacuate their homes for several days until the rain-swollen waterways finally receded.
