It happened around 3:00 p.m. Friday along the 3400 block of Passyunk Avenue.
Initial reports indicate the elderly man lost control and his vehicle overturned, going down an embankment.
Officials say the victim was trapped inside but rescue crews worked to free him.
He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
No word on his condition.
Investigators are unsure what cause the driver to lose control.
