It happened at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday on southbound I-495 near the Christiana River Bridge in Wilmington.
There is no word yet what caused the accident, but it took crews from the Wilmington Fire Department about 30 minutes to free the driver of the pickup truck from the wreckage.
He was taken to Christiana Hospital with what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
