Two 13-year-old girls who were hit by a car when they fell asleep while sunbathing on a little-traveled western Pennsylvania road are now in good condition in a Pittsburgh hospital.

Economy, Pa. police Sgt. Jerry Droz tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review the incident remains under investigation, but he doubts charges will be filed against the driver, 19-year-old Jesse Beck.

Beck is the cousin of Samantha Schermanhorn who was hit by Beck's vehicle along with her friend, Kaylie George, about 3 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses say Beck stopped at a sign before turning onto the road where he drove over the girls, whom Beck didn't see because of a drop in the road at that location.

The girls were scraped up, but were recovering at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, where a spokesman updated their condition Tuesday.
