Firefighters battled both the heat and flames during a blaze in South Philadelphia on Saturday morning.

The fire was reported at 11:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Passyunk Street.

Initial reports indicate the fire originated in a store front and smoke spread to the apartments above.

An unknown amount of residents were evacuated from the apartments while crews battled the blaze.

There were no injuries reported.

The fire was placed under control about thirty minutes later.

Firefighters could be seen drinking water and ducking their heads into spray from a fire hydrant as they worked during the summer heat.
