Police say they were called out to investigate a report of abuse on a 15 year old girl on Wednesday, August 15th. Police are withholding most of the details to protect the victim, but say the investigation revealed the alleged abuse took place at least four times over the last few months.
Police arrested 37-year-old Shawn Welch of the 100 block of Scottfield Drive in Newark on Friday.
He is being charged with offenses related to sexual abuse of a child. He is being held on $200,000 cash bail.
