Del. driver faces DUI after pedestrian struck

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - October 19, 2012

Troopers say 61-year-old John Burroughs of New Castle was making a left turn when he struck 46-year-old Mark A. Jones of New Castle, who was crossing the road.

Police say Jones was knocked down, and Burroughs stopped momentarily. Authorities say Burroughs then continued driving. Witnesses got the vehicle's license plate number and Burroughs was arrested at his home.

Troopers say Jones' cell phone was still attached to the driver's side windshield wiper.

Jones was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Burroughs was released on bond.
